Love Hyderabad Sculpture

The typographic love sculptures are a series of unique installations, being created across various metro cities of India. As part of St+art Hyderabad 2016, the second installation of the series was unveiled on the banks of the Hussain Sagar lake in the city.

Designed by artist Rocky (Hitesh Malaviya) in collaboration with designer Hanif Kureshi, the sculptures look at newer ways to celebrate urban pride through vernacular typography sculptures.

The heart is a universal symbol of love and is used by everyone - from the roadside Romeo to Milton Glaser (designer of ‘I <3 NY’ logo). This powerful icon cuts across demographics and language barriers.

Devised as monuments of love dedicated by citizens of a city to their cities, the sculptures aim to celebrate their reciprocal relationship. For every sculpture, the love symbol (heart) is incorporated into the various scripts that hold relevance for respective Indian cities. Through creating an icon in the city, for the city, the sculptures attempt to express the feelings of a city’s citizens and all the people who love it.
