Coimbatore
Kovai Art Trail
Under St+art Kovai, the first project involved the creation of a walkable art trail on the Government Art College Road in the city. four artists came together to enliven four different buildings located on the road, with pieces that drew inspiration from both Kovai’s history and its present. Situated in an area that accommodates a high concentration of diverse pedestrians, the pieces were conceptualised so as to be relevant to a large audience - both local and global.
Ukkadam Art District
From its birds to its cinema posters, the city of Coimbatore is home to a unique set of cultural indicators. In March 2020, a diverse set of five artists imbued the city’s cultural ethos in their respective pieces to create the first line of artworks for the Ukkadam Art District. Located in Kovai’s Ukkadam Colony - a TNSCB site, the art district is India’s sixth and the state’s second open-air and open-to-all public art gallery.
